Oasis Academy Shirley Park Primary recently featured in Insider Croydon following a visit from Joanne McCartney, Deputy Mayor for Children and Families, who came to see the impact of the Mayor of London’s universal free school meals programme.

Joined by Croydon East MP Natasha Irons, she toured the academy with pupils, learned how healthy meals are embedded into daily life, and joined children for lunch.

The article highlights how the scheme is supporting families by saving more than £500 per child each year, improving wellbeing and concentration, and strengthening school communities.

McCartney praised Oasis Academy Shirley Park Primary, for “fantastic work championing the importance of healthy, nutritious meals” and for the positive difference the programme is making to pupils and families in Croydon.
